Looking for the right motor mount for my 1979 300sd (w116).
Unable to find the right engine mount by Lemfoerder.

Called the dealer and they also show that the right motor mount is not available.
Anyone know where I can get a solid engine mount (Right) for my diesel?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Yes, I tried FCPEuro and AutohausAZ and they only have the left engine mount by Lemfoerder.
I might have to use Biltstein but I'm trying not to. All other mounts, except Genuine MB and Lemfoerder, collapse or fall apart within a year.

Judging by the pictures the mounts look identical in terms of fitment... the difference is one is solid and other is hollow. I'd just install a left-hand mount (OE, Corteco, Lemfoerder) on the right side.

Otherwise keeping searching online or ask the dealer if he can check stock elsewhere... could be NLA for some time now and considering the vintage, good luck.

In the old days, Daimler-Benz used two different engine mounts with two different softness/hardness ratings, to dampen the vibrations based upon the prevailing angle of the engine and how it typically vibrated. As the need for these parts grew less and less, the part numbers were reduced to one for each engine configuration.

On some cars, like my W123s, the 240D and 300D turbodiesel mounts look exactly the same. They were originally different part numbers with different rubber values. Now the only part that prevails is the 300D turbodiesel one, so for example when I put new mounts in my 240D, I have to use the 300D mounts. And only one variant, not the left vs right specific ones.

Hope that helps/makes sense.

There are enough w116 diesels around to still have a market.

You sure they arent the same mounts as W123 or W126 OM617 mounts? Lots of cars used an OM617 variant...

You got me thinking.

I think I remember one of my Mercedes (w126 300sel, w108 280sel, w116 300sd) having interchangeable mounts (left to right, right to left), and I do know that one of the 2 mounts has an HD next to the part number and that is the only difference. I think its my w108.

I have not removed the Right side mount to my w116 to see if it looks the same or check to see if the holes line up with the other side.
I usually keep all mounts that I remove for years before discarding, but for some reason I couldn't find the w116 old mounts in my cabinet.

I've learned my lesson in the past and so I never remove both mounts at the same time. Harder to align.

Going to do some more research.

Hope I can find a solid mount.

Well if you just search the part number without any spaces, the Febi/Bilstein one comes up. Pelicanparts also claims to have the MB one, but I bet they just order it from MB so they probably don't have it in stock when you actually order it.

There is a vendor on eBay that carries the Lemforder, but they claim it's the same one for the left and right.

Probably can be used interchangeably. If thats the case then I can get the left side Lemfoerder to work on the right side.
Left side is available thru AutohasAZ and other online parts stores.

Will call Classic Center on Monday and ask them if the left side mount can be used on the right side. The classic Center restoration team should know.

The two sides won't look the same when removed. One will be squashed more than the other. That's exactly why DB used to make different ones. Softer on the less squashed side for more dampening, harder on the other to resist crush.

I think I saw above, the correct parts for your car are actually now superseded with 123 part numbers????

Yes, calls for 123 241 27 13

Other options are to go with Febi Besltein and see if they don't collapse right away.

Just wondering if the right side of the engine is the side that requires the harder motor mount.
I read a review for a Duralast mount that was purchased from AutoZ for a 1981 300sd MB. The buyer said the Duralast mount only lasted a trip from LA to Lancaster. Thats not good.

I'm going to use a left side Lemfoerder mount and install it on the right side. Looks like its going to work

Iirc my driver side mounts tend to come out more squashed.

Yes use the same part number both sides. That is correct. Use Lemfoerder only. They are Phoenix/MB OE.
