VW Jetta rental

In regards to size, the Jetta felt like the '13 and '17 Accord Sports I had. So roomy. Again, the seats were amazing.
In regards to acceleration, bring a lunch.

Great car. I wonder how much they cost?

You have to keep the 1.4T "on boil" or in its sweet spot. It doesn't have the torque it should down low.
I had a stick, plenty of low end torque. Rips the tire off - literally. Add a litre of 40 grade to the sump and the VVT will keep it on the boil up to near 6000 rpm where it would previously fall flat at about 4800 with the weasel-wee VAG 0W20 508 00
Read my review regarding my 2 year lease from years ago for a "no baloney" assessment. The car has some serious flaws but could be livable for some. The factory warranty is now the worst on the market.

I got my S when you could purchase them for around 17K not much hassle. Likely 4-5 grand more now.

That a NOPE!

You’ve got to keep in mind that @JeffKeryk drives one of the fastest sedans on the market and makes its most power down low.

The Jetta even with current pricing seems like a great deal with the way the market is. I’m looking forward to seeing the redesigned GLI in person. My dealer apparently has one coming in. From what I see I prefer the 2025 Jetta styling over the new Golf.

My mother drives a 2021 Jetta 1.4T (who ironically lives in San Diego), and it gets incredible fuel mileage. Usually around low to mid-40s on the highway, I think her lifetime average is in the mid-30s, running 87. That's what her 2004 Jetta TDI wagon (auto) did back in the day.

I have seen several examples online of these 1.4T's hitting high miles with minimal issues. Also, the 8-spd transmission is by Aisin, so it should be a pretty solid combo. VW even recommends servicing it at 80k miles, no lifetime BS.
