Is there something to vw high side adapters? I have a set of 134a gauges, high and low work perfect on domestic, Japanese and euro vehicles from many manufacturers, no issues. Try to put them on the high side of my wife's 08 rabbit, it just spews refrigerant. If I keep it pressed down by hand it reads and doesn't leak, but the coupling won't catch and hold. Worked perfect before and after I tried it on the rabbit, so it's not the coupling... Low side is perfect too.
It almost seems like the male end on the car needs to be longer. If I press the female end on and keep it pressed down, no leaks... So it's failing to latch. No idea why.
I've never had to add or check this car before as its only an 08. This is very annoying. Any ideas? Anyone else see this or know of a workaround?
The wife thinks the car isn't as cool as t should be, and iirc it is putting out air in the 50s. Added some to take the low side to around 36 psi, and it dropped to low 40s, but can't get a good high side reading (holding it on, it seems to be in the 160-175 range), so I think it's good and she told me she thought it was cold when she was holding it at 2000rpm. Good enough for me!
