VW has record year since 2013

VW sold a lot of Atlas, Tiguan, some Taos and little ID4 and and broke sales record since 2013. I guess weird car buying environment got them more customers besides offering mainstream SUVs.

The ID4 likely will sell a lot more once they start USA production.

My wife and I rented an almost new Volkswagen Gulf wagon with a turbo engine a couple years ago. The Volkswagen was very impressive as far as acceleration and gas mileage. It rode very well but was a very boring car overall and the looks were just average. We drove that vehicle all over the Maine area and I would buy a Volkswagen after driving the Gulf.

I am not surprised, they've got some very attractive products and still have dealers that will sell at sticker or below.

Atlas is best family SUV. The interior design and dimensions are closer to minivan than SUV, but doesn’t look that way.
I still think I made mistake buying used Sienna instead of Atlas, but what you gonna do.
