oops, dunno what happened there....

I have had 2 of these motors. the first was my 06 which went 150K miles before trade in. I did 4 fuel filters, and about 18 oil changes (I ran 8K between).

I never pulled a single drop of water out of it - or any other diesel I have ever owned/driven/maintained for that matter. Not even when I drove big truck, not even from my Massey 65 Dieselmatic that had a separate strainer and 2 fuel can filters.

my current tdi is an early '10, purchased end of feb 2010 - most of my maint has been done for free by the dealer 'cept for the last change as I am outta the freebie now, but it was also negative.

the only additive I use is Howes diesel fuel treatment cuz sometimes I get fuel below the mason dixon line where it is not winter blended. Last winter the 06 froze the tank line while driving after sitting outside all night and then driving when it was -2* out.

As for the water in the intercooler - look to the seas. the EGR has noting to do with it (familiarize youself with *when* the EGR operates and keep in mind these aint gas engines).

anyways, boats are using the TDIs and using air/water intercoolers and when the water is cold, owners are finding up to 2 cups of water in the intercooler. The boat TDIs do NOT use the EGR for obvious reasons. Im betting any and all water in the intercooler is because of operation in humid climes.
