Can't remember if I ever posted this, but found this pic from a few years ago. Went for a canal run, and this was parked near me when I returned. This car is loved, cool owner also. The 'Z' stripe wouldn't work on too many cars, but perfect for this.

I'm not generally a FWD fan, but can make an exception for these and SAABs.

The only thing I'd put as "...as good looking as a 1992 CRX...", plus it can be modified to Synchro (awd), plus it came in VR6, plus it sometimes had the US-specific full leather cream Karman interior... a lot of plusses.

Guy I used to work with had two of these I think they were early nineties ?
Not sure if both were v6s or not ,but one was a v6 and always having some type of engine issues .

Scirocco 1975-1988
Corrado 1990-1994

A coworker found a tired, '85(?) Scirocco a few blocks from his apartment and asked me to look it over.
I told him NO and he bought it anyway. He asked me if it'd get him "through the Summer".
To that I answered, yes.
The joke at work morphed into "I told him to buy it".
Good guys, one at a time, but when they got together, they were...difficult.

I carsat it for 2 weeks while my cowo was out of town.
It drove OK for a beater, as I recall. It was too small for me.

There was a quartet of fuel pipes -all held by a 4 holed gromet- leading from the tank, forward.
The 4 tubes were cut sloppily, swinging in the breeze under the car.
Then, a foot later, I spotted the same looking 4 tubes continuing forward.
The tank must've been replaced with a junkyard unit.
How the engine got fuel, I do not know.

Loved the Corrado concept. I thought these were great looking cars in and out, although the headlights never looked quite right.

I drove the SLC (VR6) model and it was mediocre. Nose heavy for the corners and too short wheelbase for cruising. The interior was not really comfortable and the back seats were punishment for kids. The VR6 was touted as smooth as silk; it was nothing special.

The G60 was underpowered and the cool wheels were too easy to bend.

One of the US car magazines wrote the Corrado this was a top-10 car people should during their lifetime. lol

The similar VW GTI in Eurospec was a winner but the Peugeot 205 was the best hothatch.

These things were uncommon when they were new and are now pretty rare.
A fairly attractive car that apparently has decent power with either engine.
It does look sporty.

I remember when these were first out, my dad and I went to a dealer to look at one. Couldn't believe a car this small had a 6 cylinder!
