Hi

So, after all is told, what is the dosage for a 5qt sump?

What has been the norm for those getting the mpg boost?

Excuse my ignorance, but I have seen a number of recent references (for the 1st time) to VSOT, but don't know what it is and what it does.

Could someone please spell out what it stands for and what it does?

Thx

VSOT is Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment. Check out the VOA here.

I've been using VSOT mixed @ 1oz per qt, but I'll make no claims to increased mpgs. Valvoline says its OK to use the entire bottle(15oz), but by doing so you may boost the oil viscosity to an undesired level.

I am about 375 miles away from completing my AutoRX clean and am then going to the 2,000 mile rinse after which I am switching from dino to Esso XD3, 0W30, full synthetic.

What would the VSOT do for me that LC20 couldn't?

There is a "movement" being started for VSOT. Pour in a can, MPG goes up, the oil gets slicker, and the engine stays clean. What a deal!

I did the entire bottle for the 4 vehicles I tried it in so far. City mileage was up 5~8% but highway was unchanged for the most part.

I mixed it with 4.5 quarts of Mobil 1 5W20, it comes out to about a 30W mixed like this.

Hi

If NAPA comes through with a shipment in the morning, I will change out the Havoline tomorrow night and install M1 10w30 and a 1oz/1qt ratio of VSOT and LC20.

At $2.89/gal, I need all the help I can get.

If possible add an equal amount of LC20 and try to find a hour drive so the car gets driven fairly hard on hilly roads to work the rings.

That's my latest crackpot theory

Hi

I changed the oil weds evening, and added a bottle of vsot and the recommended dose of LC20.

For two days of work, a total of 266 miles ( 102,164 respectively) fuel economy has been about 27.22 average.

While that is slightly better than August's month average, it is still too soon to comment.

This is in a Olds LSS 3800 Series II with M1 10w30.

I am told that there is a differance between Valvoline Synpower ENGINE Treatment (VSET, 32 Oz at NAPA) and Valvoline Synpower OIL Treatment(VSOT, 15 Oz at other places). The VSET is thin like oil and VSOT is thick like honey. I havent seen a VOA on both to compare. I am running it in a Buick and got 1.5 MPG better in a drive from sea level to 4000 feet and back, 25-26 to 27.46 MPG. I added 15 Oz of VSOT to 4 qts of M1 0W20 to make it about 5W30. DaveJ

Let us know how it goes, I would like to see more data on it, especially the ones that don't get a gain.

I wonder if this stuff is any relation to the old STP??? Almost sounds like it but in the years since STP there should have been some progress in formulation.

There has been a virgin oil sample done on this .Look it up...

For the major moly and boron content which appears to be the working factors, I haven't seen anything else close that was an off the shelf additive.

I just ran another tank through the BMW and my average MPG is now at 28.6 versus 25.5 before adding the 5oz VSOT/ 5oz LC20/ 2.5oz FP60 to the Redline 10W-40 and the Shell V-Power 91 octane.

I'm more confident that this mix is helping. And every car I'm running it in in seems smoother and shows similar gains.
