Volvo Penta Oil

I wanted to see what others are using in their Volvo Penta engines? I was wondering why my owners manual (2006) states to use a SAE 30 synthetic or 20w-50 or 15w-50 oil?

I'm interested in using Amsoil for the engines and curious to the pros/cons of going from a straight 30 oil to a 20w-50 oil?

Also, is anyone using Amsoil TRO Series 2000 20w-50. Use this in my BMW for over 10 yrs and absolutely love it.

don't know about any pros and cons, but the 50 weight is because oil temps may be high. there is no oil cooler in most of the penta v8's. a straight 30 may be ok too, but here in sweden no straight 30 is availiable for the penta line, only mineral or synthetic 15w-50. should mean something.
