VOA - Total Quartz 5w30 INEO MC3 - SN Plus - 2023

Note, this is not the Long Life version, I may do it in the future. Enjoy.

Interesting that only the 0w-20 has Moly
I'm guessing they figure the 5w30s have enough viscosity whereas the moly is an added protection for the thinner
0w20. I picked up some of each of the 4 Total oils that were on CLEARANCE last year (0w20, 5w30, 5w30 LL and 5w40. The 5w40 has already gone into a family members VW while the others await use.

One thing I now know is that even though the 0w20 and 5w30 are from the same company their formulas are quite different so I won't be mixing them. (My Escape takes 6 quarts when I run the oversized PH3600 sized oil filter and I have often used a 5 quart jug of 5w20 and 1 quart of 5w30 of the same brand which doesn't seem like a good idea with this oil). OTOH, I would have no problem mixing the 5w30 and the 5w30LL if I was short a quart or two of either for an OCI because they seem to have similar enough formulas.
Thanks Capt. B for the VOAs.

Agree, had quite a stash myself but culled it down to only the 0w20 based on these UOA reports. I did have a sundry of single quarts, and made a custom jug which is probably an additive clash of 0w20, 5w30 and 5w40 Total, but its being used in OPE so probably wont explode but Lake Speed Jr might be frowning a big frown.

Still have 4 quarts of 10w60, will probably use it to help along burning brush this fall/spring.

Are you saying, you were no impressed by the UOAs so you are not using this oil?

I'm wondering the same thing? I certainly wouldn't 'cull' the 5w30 and 5w40 Total or even the 10w60.....I'd probably use them in
my nieces 2013 Kia Optima which burns far less oil when 40 weight is used. I'd even use the 5w30 in other family vehicles like a 2008 Sonata. Find someone with a late model H/K and sell it to them...

I'm no tribologist, but had acquired other oil through other clearances, Castrol 5w40, and Mobil 5w40 euro, so Total went and the newer stuff replaced it.
