walmart from late 2016. It probably hasnt changed much. http://pqiadata.org/SuperTech15W40.html
That's no longer available old CJ-4. Need CK-4 formula. Thanks for looking through.walmart from late 2016. It probably hasnt changed much. http://pqiadata.org/SuperTech15W40.html
I think WM retail stores do a pretty good job stocking all the popular oils but buying online could eliminate out of stock issues at the retail store.i would guess many oils not on WM shelves are available WM.com
Is anyone else seeing "You must sign in to access this content" and "We're sorry. This document is not published."
That is all I got as well.
And, the spreadsheet is gone
You all see what I see & Apologies! Yes, there is a link discrepancy. I've already sent a PM to a mod, last week, but have not heard anything back yet. If don't hear anything back, by tomorrow, then I'll try PM'ing a different mod. Basically, I need them to re-open the original post so I can fix the link. Hopefully, It should be fixed soon & that is the only thing I'm waiting for.@fantastic Do you still have the spreadsheet?
I stumbled across @himemsys thread that combined a bunch of PCMO VOA in one spreadsheet (You can find that sheet linked below). I figured it was such a great idea that I decided to also put one together but with HDEO (Diesel Oil).

I created a line that adds up the Additive Package in the oil. This is displayed with the most additives towards the top, to the least additives at the bottom. This line is labeled "Add Pack". It is not listed in alphabetical order. On the bottom left side of the sheet there are different grades (40, 30, etc.) & if you click on them it will display those viscosity's. Also, I added gasoline API SN, SP, etc. to all that meet those specifications.
I hope that you all can get something from the list & if there are more I missed just let me know so I can update it. I appreciate all that have contributed to making this list possible. Thank You!
You're very welcome. I'm happy that you're getting some value from it.Great job, thank you!
There's an API loophole for 40 grades at least. The CK-4 can be SN dual labeled. You'll notice it's somewhat harder to find dual rated CK-4 10w-30's for this reason. Now, as far as I know if they want to label either grade of CK-4 oil with API SP they'll need to reduce P to <800. API 40 grades have had some exceptions for the amount of additives allowed. 1100 P is basically the high end & after that may reach diminishing returns simply b/c I think Ford is the only one that requires that much P in their spec'd oil but any Ford F1 spec will have at least 1100 P in it.Do the CK4 only diesel oils are more lenient in terms of phosphorous/zinc compared to the ones that also have SN?
I do not understand how the ones that have SN approval are allowed to have such high numbers.. can someone please explain?
Ex: Rotella oil recently had SN on the label. does that mean they are still able to have zinc/phosphorous >=1100 or so?
it is confusing...
There are only a couple CK-4/SP's I've seen so far so most oil on the shelf is CK-4/SN & will have plenty additives. There may be a few CK-4/SN that may be more positioned for emissions reduction so will have less additives. Refer to the "Database" in this thread to go over your options. I would steer away from the CK-4/SP oils for now to answer your question. That makes sense.. so from your explanation then if you see DUAL for 40 grade, then you would assume that it has enough phosphorous/zinc . if you see dual with SP, stay away for flat tappet?
CK-4 oil in your old Benz should be just fine. Additives have decreased since your 1990 Benz was developed & CK-4 style oil can help retain a good add packs totals. Knowing the T5 options you're either using the 10w-30 or 15w-40. Just know that a 5w-40 Euro could still be a good option. However, if you're concerned mainly about wear then a CK-4 will have more viscosity. While you may have to replace the cat eventually just due to age etc. it may be a small price to pay for getting adequate oil film protection. I don't know much about those old Merc's but I'd assume the cat is just pretty basic & wouldn't be too cost prohibitive to replace. There are folks on here that have run CK-4 oils in vehicles much newer than that & have said there are no known issues from its use. If you are using T5 10w-30 then a Euro 5w-40 could still be a good alternative. You have some variable options but Zinc is important for flat tappets & CK-4 will have more in general than a Euro oil will. ThanksAnother question, I am still confused about whether I should keep using diesel oil for my flat tappet with cat early 90s Benz.
I am using Rotella T5, however , the more I see videos and read , the more I feel that I should start using other oils as Diesel oils have much more detergant that could do more harm than good.. The big question is, what else to use... all other gas engines would have less than 1000ppm unless I go to API SF or SH, which is obsolete...
your expertise is appreciated
