Hi, I'm working on a buddy's computer- getting the malware, spyware and other assorted junk off his Vista laptop. I've been getting rid of old programs that he doesn't use and disabling or switching to manual, several processes. He started out with 72 running processes and after removing and uninstalling the junk and going through an online guide , I've got it down to about 40 running processes. It still seems high compared to 28-30 on my XP machine. Is Vista just this busy all the time?
edit: I'm also trying to get rid of the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 because (this was prior to my meddling) it wouldn't update and cannot be uninstalled. It keeps coming up with some message about "the language of this installation package is not supported by your system" I get this while attempting to update or uninstall.
I'd like to get rid of it and only have OpenOffice on there. At least it's free, has plenty of features and works....
