I don't understand why but it happens all the time in VA getting 87 octane. I used to stop at the Shell in Ashland, VA at exit 92 off RT95 because i was getting the increase mpg there. On my way home i stop at a different exit off RT95 and it was a Exxon and still got approx 2mpg more. Not sure if the station said "May include up to 10% ethanol" but have seen that before on the drive from MA to NC gas station.

Dahlgren , Port Royal and 301 between Potomac River up to Port Royal seems to have very inexpensive gas. I do not recall that specific Marathon gas station but I would guess its about the same as the others in the area.
I checked on Gas Buddy- that Marathon today is 2.29 for 87 octane. The Sheetz in King George is 2.15. Earlier I talked about near Doswell- I should have said Ruther Glen, VA- most of the stations there are $2.15.
Are you pleased with that Marathon station, displeased or just curious ?
