Virgin Napa Silver 31334 cut open - Manufacturing Defect

This is a made in Mexico Wix/Affinia filter, made for NAPA on 09/24/2015. I don't have a vehicle that this filter fits on so it sat unused for years. Recently I looked at my stash of filters and saw this one pretty well rusted and I decided to put it on the chopping block. Don't know why this one rusted sitting in a box next to a bunch of other filters (mostly Fram and PrimeGuard) and none of those were rusted.

When I cut it open I saw at least 4 spots where the media was not glued to the end cap. It looks like they did not use enough glue when they glued it together.

Yeah, the Mexico made variations of this brand has not done well with C&P. That filter is bad & I'm sure you're happy it wasn't run on anything.

$3 Chinese filters have beautiful pleat spacing 99% of the time.

Are these NAPA filters assembled by had or machine ?

I really don't think that any filters nowadays are assembled by hand, but I don't know for sure.

Most are made better than that!
