Potting a folded media into end caps with glue seems like an old outdated method. The Denso method on their Toyota filters seems much more saving in materials, and also has advantages. Flow is not obstructed as much, the pleats can move and not tear, pleats can be assembled more evenly and easier, more media, and there isn't excess glue scattered all over. They don't put Eco or Hybrid on the can either to get sales.
