Virgin K&N PS1003 oil filter cut open

Hi Guy's,
I have a K&N oil filter cut open.
Here's the spec's, Designed for synthetic or conventional oil, High flow media, Heavy duty canister (I can vouch for that).
Couldn't find any filtration #s,
1.5 inches wide, 38 inches long, 55 pleats,
Made in China,

How does the price compare to the synthetic media made in USA FRAM Ultra? If they are comparable I can't see the allure of this filter.

Looks well constructed, but having a fat center tube means less media. I guess they save a little there if center tube costs less than media..

It seems that all of these Chinese made filters look very similar. I wonder if they come from the same factory.
