Virgin C&P Fram Endurance FE3614 vs Kohler Pro Blue 25 050 53-S

From what I can see here, here's what I observed...

Fram Pros: Widely available, more filter media area. Price is lower at most sites.
Fram Cons: Sloppy gluing, Inlet holes and louvers look more restrictive. Stamped leaf spring instead of coil spring. May be tool long for some Briggs/Kohler/Kawasaki engines to clear steering lnkage.

Kohler Pros: Looks neater and cleaner than Fram - not so sloppy. Nice open inlet holes and holes in the core allowing better flow. Shorter filter can fit into tighter areas that may not allow the FE3614 or equivalent. Coil Spring > Leaf Spring. When compared to a Fram 8172, a much better filter that can be had for the same price or better.
Kohler Cons: Less filter media. Prices higher than FE3614 in stores, if you can find them. (Note that Safford Equipment has the best price I've seen on the Kohler Pro Extended Life at $11.97 plus shipping. You can probably get shipping free with a large enough order.)

So $14.08 no matter how large the order. A deal IF you're gonna buy in bulk but not so much for just 1 or 2. I'm tempted to call them and see if they'd eliminate shipping fees for a large enough order.

I called them up and got a lady on the phone and I was basically told shipping is what it is. I have a Kohler Dealer that is 30 minutes away and last year they quoted me a price of $17.00 but I would have to drive and pick it up.

Give them a call, you might get Lucky. I might even buy the Amsoil EA15K53 and if my order is over $100.00, I would get Free Shipping. I do need to get another gallon of the Amsoil Saber Pro, so I may get 2 oil filters and be set for a long time.

Yeah, I'm an Amsoil preferred customer myself and tacked on a couple EA15K53's for my Cub Cadet to go along with some Signature Series oil I use in my Honda CRV to bring my order over $100 ang get the free shipping. I've seen them cut open and it's a very robust filter too and it's competitively priced to other low profile filters that don't have the synthetic filtering media.

Found this on Amazon. Pack of 6 for just a tad over 13 bucks each. Could be a good deal if you mow commercially and go through several filters a season. I barely put 50 hours on my Cub Cadet, so it would take me 6 years to go through them.
