New project(s).... Someone else on BITOG must have an interest in vintage fishing reels.
These are my Grandfather's reels that found their way to me, with the most recent being found in a relative's cellar a few months ago. Oldest appears to be a 1946 Shakespeare Marhoff and I guesstimate the newest being one of the large Penn's at the early 60's or maybe the West German made DAM, however one other one may be pre-war. They were last used in the late 1970's. He was an avid fisherman and submariner in the Pacific during the war and I know he fished from some of the boats he was on. I've started fishing a bit and my goal is to use these at some point. He bought quality things and maintained them well; I remember seeing him clean and service a few of these. I completed one, a small J C Higgins and I will say that Wurth HHSK/+ is magic on these, but I will probably go thicker for the larger reels.
Anyone have a line on a spool for a DAM Quick Super?
