NAPA Gold (WIX)is a great filter. Checkout this video also for other comparisons:

Look at some of the comments. This one is interesting ... never heard of this before now:

"The pure one and bosche have a spring made of flat steel to hold the element against the baseplate. Those designs have been known to weaken and let the filter go into bypass."

In the first video, were those white filters Motorcrafts?

3,000 mile oil advocate and even using Syn oil. His little demo was stupid too. A 5500 mile OCI is somehow responsible for ruining the engine? please.

He tells us nothing about the oils that were used or anything.

Having THREE Castrol oil products displayed there tells me that he may have been persuaded to advocate 3,000 mile oil changes.

The independent mechanic is talking to the non do it yourselfer and although I can't agree with everything I would rather take my car to him than a speedy lube if I didn't do my own work. Sure he is trying to sell his service and products. Why wouldn't he.

The guy with the music and a handfull of filters has no business making a video on filters. He is speaking to do it yourselfers and has little knowledge. He is surprised that a Fram uses carboard end caps??? What cave has he been living in? I have nothing bad to say about a Ecore filter which he placed last because it has fiber board ends and a nylon case. Well that is the basic idea of the design, to make them more disposable (green). I've used ST Ecore filters several times and read this site and I can't say I've seen either feature fail.

Strange and he uses the Pro Select NAPA filter. I never saw 5500 oil change look that bad...Unless he took a sludged up engine and ran Synthetic for 5500 miles and then changed it.

+1. Sounds like a shop owner/employee trying to sell more oil changes.

Quite frankly, to this layman's eye, I saw nothing wrong with the second (white) filter.
"The oil goes right by". Huh? NOT. Goes right by if he cuts a hole in the pleat with that knife.

Looked good to me. Perhaps not a Napa Gold, but it looked far from "you don't get a filter."

Triple A owned shops in this area have a decent rep. But, IMO this guy doesn't have much credibility.
