Where can I find a set of vice grip type pliers that are NOT made in China. I lost my set in a refinery over a weekend and I CANNOT for the life of me find any that arent communist. [censored]. I dont care if they are 30 dollars more, if its made in USA I will buy it. Snap-On, craftsman, vicegrip, channelocks, are all made in china.

Check your local Home Depot and Lowes stores. Mine have the "Made in the USA" ones in back of the rack where the stock guys just added new inventory to the front. Watch out for the "Assembled in the USA from global components" label they are made form ChiCom parts.

I looked at the irwin/vicegrip at home depot and they are chinese now. C

Trav, if I cant find any american made ones I have always had good luck with german tools. They do make quality products.

Irwin moved their manufacturing facility out of some small town in the USA to China last year. Pretty much put the whole town out of a job.

If you search you may still find some USA made Vice grips in stores. If that does not work check Pawn shops and Ebay.

I found a set of Vice-Grips at Lowes, last pack in the back a needle nose and a traditional Made in USA. I snagged them. Not as good as the really old Vice Grips I used to have but, it will work. I am going to look into Mac or Mat-co for a set of higher quality ones.

I feel the same way! i refuse to buy new made in china vicegrips.
I have found american vicegrips at swap meets and have been stocking up. Who knows american vice grips may be the next collectable.

strangely, I have american vice grips, and the newer made in china ones. I've found the made in china ones to be of a slightly better fit and finish. Only time will tell...
