Was reading paper during lunch...flyer falls out...go to throw away...when I notice an ad for a pre-paid cellular...hop in car...drive to Viaero...hand lady 40 bucks some odd change...walk out with Motorola and 35 bucks cellular credit on phone...free nights and weekends...which is all I plan on using unless emergency...there is a cost of 50 cents a day...works out to around $15 dollars a month...Sweet!...phone does all calculating and lets me know how much credit I have...rates as low as 10 cents per minute...best of all no monthly bill!...if I run out of credits all I have to do is go online and add more with debit card...Anybody here use prepaid cellular?

seems like a great deal. Were I to lose my cellular phone due to loss/breakage (I don't do insurance) This would be an excellent option. The one big issue for me though is that you probably have zero free roaming.

That's not bad, but tracfone is cheaper. You can get a phone & 800min/1yr of talk time shipped to your door for ~$140. I usually wait until they have a $99 deal for a phone + 1yr of talk time. IMO, prepaid is the only way to go for an occasional use cell phone. If it's a phone you need constantly, don't do prepaid.

Virgin Mobile here. Not cheap at 18-cents/minute, but for the amount I use the phone it's fine. I have to add at least $20 every 3 months to keep the account active, but I have yet to ever run out of time.

Tracfone does have its merits...but the only reason I went with Viaero is free nights and weekends...so I will be paying 15 bucks a month for this phone!...there are lots of great deals on prepaid phones...just have to find one you like best and suits you most...
