Very Pleased with MMO

Ive gone through 2 qrts of MMO recently in my 04 Civic Si and the gas mileage has gone up. Before MMO was added, I was averaging about 26-27 mpg doing about 70% highway 30% city driving, same route every day. I always fill up at the same Valero station and it usually takes about 10 gallons of 87 to fill up when the gas indicator light turns on.

Just finished my 2nd qrt of MMO, did the recommended 4ozs of MMO per tank, and these last 3 tanks have netted me about 31-32mpg. Same route, driving style, and filled up at the same Valero station. The engine has also quieted down a bit at idle.

I think Ill keep using MMO

If you search around here, you'll find that most folks seem to be OK with results using MMO. I've also had decent results with in our v8's and v6's. In fact, I quit using FP and now just go with the MMO - results seemed to be the same with both.
I was never too sure about it, but I think it's good for the top end when mixed with the fuel.

I'm still a regular LC user though!

You can substitute up to 1 quart of motor oil with MMO for a normal OCI for engine cleaning.

the '04 civic si's run on 87 octane? normally the high performance honda engine's spec 91...

Run a used oil analysis and see what the MMO is doing to the oil in the crankcase. Just curious.

How does a 1 quart addition of MMO affect the oil spec? Oil weight? Indexing? In my sump that would be 25% of the volume. Is this a quick flush or can you drive it?

they claim u can drive it, but solvents can bust large amounts of sludge loose and clog something... thats the theory... i've used seafoam in an old car with no issues... not that i would again, as there are better alternatives.

I've substituted MMO for a qt. of oil in my wife's Expedition before. The other 5 qt's of oil were API SJ QS 4x4 semi-syn. 10w30.

iirc, I only ran the mix for about 1000 miles, before changing the oil & filter. It didn't seem to help or hurt anything in my case. I think it was a total waste of money.

the 02-05 Civic Si's have the k20a3 which is the "economy" version of the 3 k20a engines so it can run 87. the k20A2 (found in the RSX Type S and UKDM Civic Type R) and the K20A (JDM Civic Type R) run on 91.
