Came across a different style garage door. Would enjoy knowing the cost, reliability, and challenges to installation.

Now that is a good looking garage door and has to be better than the old thin panels. The biggest door on mine is getting old and ready for replacement. The thin metal can only handle so many cycles before it starts to break at the joints.

Nice digs.

That door is similar to a commercial roll-up type and keeps the thinner panels rolled around the tension rod within that decorative cover. More than likely has the motor direct drive the rod from the side to keep it compact. Our Public Works has a 5 bay shop and uses these type doors, albeit much taller and not as purty. Hardly ever saw them go down or need repairs. The door "panel" strips were aluminum and didn't weigh a lot.

Edit: I was wrong, the panels are "stored" in the "magazine" in a stacked fashion. Pretty cool.

Very cool. I guess if you could afford the door, you could afford the repair cost of it which I would imagine are astronomical.

Anytime something starts with "this luxury home..." I know it's not for me. 8x16 door installed price around $8800.

Different but related I've seen the side mount garage door opener system installed and operating and it looks like a good upgrade and not much more expensive than a standard overhead opener.
