Version of Windows not genuine

Another reboot and the problem seems to be gone. The message on the bogus version of Windows is gone. The "Oh, Snap!" is gone. I still get freeze up of the browser, but only if I have used the open browser to download something and then go into BITOG. So I just close the browser window used for the download. We'll see if it comes back over time though and I have the Windows Activation hot line on my desk just in case.

Thanks for all your help. May need it yet, but hopefully this is resolved.

If it happens again:

open an admin command prompt, type slmgr.vbs -ipk and press enter. It may take several seconds.

Then type slmgr.vbs -ato and press enter.

Except he has a legit copy of Windows, so this shouldn't be happening in the first place and it is far from common.
