So the power went out in my neighborhood last Monday and then my computer was constantly crashing. AFter trying all kinds of things, I reinstalled the old 512 memory cards and removed the new (once replaced) 1 gb cards and now my machine is not crashing anymore. It did crash once trying to install Google Chrome and I cannot get it to install so went with Firefox which is working fine.
So before the second memory problem rehappened, I was running along nicely on the new memory and was using AVG for virus protection but got infected anyway, badly. Even after I cleaned it up and was running for a couple weeks supposedly free and clear I later did a boot scan with my new AV program Avast and found viruses. My computer is now clean because I reinstalled Vista wiping the old programs/files out.
My son had AVG pop up an Agent4 Trojan alert and could not fix it. We could not find it with Malwarebytes or Avast and based on some web discussion boards figure it is a fluke of AVG. AVG is gone and he is using Avast which has a beautiful user friendly interface vs the really awkward interface of AVG.
