Verizon actiontec modem,red light on for internet.

I finally got my dry loop dsl from dsl extreme hooked up.the dsl light is steady green but the internet light is red.I already tried cycling modem/router but it still persists.Anyone know why it's red instead of green?
 
Do you need to login to it and add your username/password so that it connects?

If the DSL light is green, it has line sync. So the issue should just be authentication.

If you cannot get a login prompt call DSL Extreme. The network side (central office) of the order needs to be completed. It should be quick; the hard part is often getting a steady green light due to poor line (wire) conditions.

The red light finally went out.Now there's no light on the internet display.The dsl light is on and steady.So do i need to get authentication from extreme? I did have this setup working good at my previous place,which was an apt.

+1 check pppoe settings
 
you probably just have to log into the dsl modem and put in your id and password.

if not its something they have to do from their end.
 
1 more thing- if you are still not getting a login prompt for your account the router may need to be reset; usually a small button you hold down with a pen while powering up. Release it when lights stop flashing. Sometimes you are sent equipment that is used. The login prompt is usually a onetime thing.
 
Called dsl extreme and they helped me with the router setup.I think i had to log in first,and they also did things on their end.All good now, thanks to all again!!!!
