Off of a buick, 104,443. slightly more than 5k on filter. Non-bypass filter. Canister was pretty robust, and I managed to mangle it in the process of cutting it open.

Tried washing the filter down to see if it would have and particulate that it would release, nothing but a lot of wasted dawn.

the ADBV was solid. When I pierced the canister, it drained a further half cup of oil out of the filter that didn't drain out through the center opening.

SirTanon,
It was really black, but not far from what I see draining the dodge, which lived on 3k mile syn oil changes until 2 years ago. No solids in the bottom of the can, or at the bottom of the container I drained the final .5 cup of oil into.

MJoeKingz28,
Indeed, Valvoline bulk from a V branded quick lube shop. 5w30

there didn't seem to be anything in the pleats that could be dislodged, and as mentioned there wasn't anything in the base of the canister itself. So anything it filtered out was well embedded into the media. According to the can, it's made in the U.S.A. Overall, if I could buy them, I'd happily use them if they were cheaper than the Delco that I'm partial to. My only surprise, and I'm sure that's because it's a cheaper filter, was that the media seemed to be like cardboard when I cut into it.

This is my first cut open filter, so it's all new for me.

RichardS: thank you for info and c&p of filter

Car51,
Of course! I almost PM'd you for tips on how to get it open, but between some wire snips and a meat tenderizer, I got into it pretty well.

Being the King of all filters opened, does the cardboard like description sound to you like a paper media?

Thanks!

RichardS: sounds like regular media. The tough guards if I learned right; are a blended media also. I use a Longacre cutter and it's adjustable and works wonderfully.

This is the one I have
