Hello again folks. Here we have a Valvoline V0-105 filter that crosses to I believe AC PF 63 filter. Ran with some Valvoline Maxlife NextGen 5w30 for 8k' ish. No tears and I am on the fence with purolators building of filters for "low cost apps/jobber" stuff.

date code is F08F27C1 also

Stewie, have been thinking about a pipe cutter. I did clean the cutting wheels, to cut down on paint flakes everywhere LOL

. I do not understand or get why that on a small tec select, pro motive they use a metal binder to hold where media comes together but on a valvoline, pennzoil filter and the factory ford I cut open there isnt any.

Looks like you're trying to wear out that Harbor Freight exhaust cutter.

Pleat spacing is relatively tight on this one. I think there have also been reports of glued seam Purolators that have torn.

Bullwinkle, maybe you could cut one from the Valvoline place and post here for is. I would be interested to see if yours looks like this one or is yellow with blue letters&numbering.

ANy documentation on those glued seam Puro filters you "think" you heard about?

Herrstig; give me time as I'll dig thru the "filter dumpster I' death" and find more Puro's and then everyone will have a yeah or no answer. I have a stockpile, just too little time Somedays to cut all of em'

That last pic of the bottom of the seam (second to last pic) sure looks suspicious. Almost looks like you can see the center tube. Maybe it's just oil reflecting the light.

Go look at the filters listed here ... some have glued seams.
Torn Purolator Filter Summary

You can then search the forum for the members who reported the torn filters (User column), and they will probably have photos showing the filter listed in the speadsheet.

That's what I see when I zoom in. Glued seam separation. Please confirm.

Another "win" for Purolator! What's next? Cans that crack open after 2k miles?

Well, I will never, ever buy another Puto, jobber or "made by Purolator filter. Especially after they gave our great member Texan4life a "automated/can of b.s" reply to cover their hind end. I don't need a "tearing" filter cause they have what seems to be a TOTAL lack of quality
