Valvoline Synpower 5w-20 anyone running it?

I'm about ready to switch my truck over to synthetic this next oil change and was wondering what your guys thought on Valvoline synpower was don't see many threads about it. I tried a search on it but did not find any on 5w-20 synpower. My other choice I'm considering is PP but how does these two stack up to each other? Thanks

Many here feel the Maxlife Synthetic is Valvoline's best synthetic.

Personally. I would buy whichever is cheaper - choosing between Pennzoil, Castrol and Valvoline Synthetics. I'm about to run a 50-50 mix of Valvoline Synpower and (free) Maxlife Synthetic for the next two OCIs in my 99 Chevy pickup S-10 with 90K. That 4.3 engine has only seen Castrol and Pennzoil synthetics since 3K.

I guess it's Valvoline's turn at the wheel for my driving habits. Maybe this brand will curb my engine's slight thirst of a half-quart consumption at the midway point of a 6.5K OCI. If not, then the following OCI will see all (free) Maxlife synthetic.

It's a 06 F150 FX4 with the 5.4. I'm currently running MC 5-20 but since I use it a lot around my dads farm towing trailers and such I want an oil that will offer better protection when I tow.

If you look at some of the posts and UOA of MC 5W20 you will see that it holds up well even when towing and extreme heat. I wouldn't be afraid to continue to use it.

I had a bad experience with Valvoline synthetic and I will never use Synpower again. However, one of the best oils I ever used was Valvoline MaxLife. My car ran great with it. But it is expensive compared to Chevron and Halvoline.

What kind of bad experience?

I have used neither but Pennzoil Platinum is turning out real good used oil analysis. I would do a search for both in the used oil analysis section and make your own conclusions. If i had to make the decision, I would go with PP. You cant beat the bang for your buck factor with PP

Hermann, my old Saturn car ran terrible with Valvoline Synpower! I don't know why-maybe it was a bad batch of oil. I had to change the oil shortly after I had put it in.

About the only synthetics I am interested in now are Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum, although I think I would be willing to try Chevron synthetic.
