New data sheet (effective from 5-23-06) is posted at Valvoline website.

http://www.valvoline.com/products/Synpower.pdf

I don't remember old specs, but 10W30 Synpower has flash point of 250 oC, which is same as Redline 10W30.

Sulfated ash 0.90
Pour point -48 oC
NOACK 8.9%
TBN 8

It looks like pretty good oil at least the numbers. (TBN can be higher I guess) Hope to see some UOA's using this 10W30 soon.

Synpower is a great oil that doesn't get enough credit. In many cases in the past for many people, it outperformed Mobil 1 in the same engine in terms of lower UOA wear metals.

I agree.

I've ran the 5W 40 in my 99' Passat 1.8T since new at 7-9,000 mi OCI's and now have 131,000 miles. Just put in the Maxlife Synpower 5W 30 a couple of months ago and seems to have eliminated oil consumption.

I saw some people here claim that Valvoline Synpower has some Group III base. Can group III base have flash point of 250 oC? Mobil1 10W30 has 224 oC flash point and supposed to be full group IV base.
