Valvoline Restore and Protect

Possibly. The 0W-16 appears to be a genuine product as I found it on Valvoline's global site, and on AutoZone's as well. But depending on your location, it might not be available for whatever reason.
 
Just drained the first OCI of Valvoline Restore and Protect from our 2020 Ford Expedition. 6k on this OCI, 112k total on the vehicle, which has had dealership oil changes most of its life (6k average OCI). Not trying to correct oil consumption issues or anything like that, just decided to run this oil since I bought a 5 gallon bulk container of it.

Cut the filter open to satisfy my own curiosity, nothing odd noted. Refilled with more of the same, forward we go.

I decided to try Valvoline Restore and Protect in my 1997 Suburban, which has 202,000 miles on the original 5.7L engine. When I got this Suburban about 5 years ago the thermostat was stuck open, and based on a review of the service records (complaints of no heat) it had been like that for quite some time. The engine was consuming a lot of oil, and I suspected some of the rings were stuck from the cold operating temperature, light throttle, and decades of cheap oil. Although I have been able to reduce the oil consumption down to about 1 quart per 1500 miles, I still think there is room for improvement.

Because this is a 2wd Suburban there is clearance for an oversized oil filter. Seemed like a good idea at least for the first OCI with the Valvoline Restore and Protect.

I am about 1000 miles into the OCI and have been giving it all the throttle therapy I can.

I am about 2500 miles into the OCI so far and I haven't observed anything out of the ordinary. Oil consumption is unchanged, still about 1 quart every 1500 miles.
 
Another VRP success story. Son's 2015 S3. Chewing 2 qts in 5K OCI. Ran 5W-30 VRP for ~5K, cut the useage in half on first change with it. Will run it again and see how much more it can improve. Next up is another son's A3...chews ~0.5/6-700 miles so hoping to cut that in half as well. Go VRP! Wish they would produce a Euro 40 grade.

But we keep talking about engine benefits from R&P. Has anyone noticed any benefits to their turbos, since they typically pull engine oil to lubricate them? I don't know if anyone opened one up, or noticed a possible bearing issue that got better after R&P.

Would probably help if there was any oil coking type deposits in the turbo bearings.
 
Wear rubber gloves. VRP comes with a warning that it can potentially cause reproductive harm. It doesn't say what reproductive harm, but you don't want to find out through experience.
That's because of California. I had some brass sink fittings that had the same warning because of Cali laws.
