Valvoline Restore and Protect

Employee of the company making the fuel additive confirmed it is the "proprietary additive" they are using that they receive from Valvoline and contains no PEA.

I couldn’t really find anything that claimed any shared chemistry with oil other than they can be used “in conjunction”. Did they stare elsewhere that they are using the same additives in the fuel cleaner that are used the oil? I read this thread a few times again and these quotes are the closest I could find. Honestly just asking because I couldn’t find Carguy2427 saying that, would love to know if they did.

Its a collaboration between the 2 companies, both chemistry departments work together when formulating new items. Both companies have expertise, so the 2 working together only better serve the end users.
I can tell you there is 0 and uses a new technology. Yes PEA has been the gold standard for many years and a great way to tell if an additive would have a great cleanup effect, but there are a few technology's that work as well or better for certain instances that are not as easy to decode in a test or from an sds sheet in the past, part of this is so that competitors can not as easily create a me to item.
That was exactly the development goal for the 2 to be used in conjunction, but also still work independently great as well. Can't wait to see the feedback!

Here's a direct link. And a link to my post on my assessment.

If the base products to blend motor oil goes up, then everyone will be paying more to make finished motor oil.
true, but they might have enough stock/low enough demand to offset that for a while. or they will just raise prices according to market conditions.

this vehicle has dropped oil consumption from 1 quart or greater per 1,000 miles to 1.25 quarts in a 7,500 mile interval after about 30,000 miles of Valvoline Restore and Protect. I've dissected each oil filter, never any significant or abnormal deposits to see in filter. These pictures of cylinders 1 and 2 during the 2nd interval of Valvoline Restore and Protect. 2007 Subaru Forester EJ253 new lease on life. If I have the opportunity to retake the pictures I will. Head gaskets still externally dry and internally no indications of trouble, timing belt replaced 20k ago at time of pictures. Pictures taken from wrist pin access holes cylinders 1 and 2.

Excellent results!!

I'm still waiting to see if Mobil 1 Advanced Clean comes close to the performance of Valvoline Restore and Protect. Will be good to have some competition, I think.
Don’t hold your breath but I imagine a lot of the normies will buy Mobil 1 Advanced Clean which should help put some price pressure on Valvoline. Hopefully any way.

Today I see Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 up to $38 at Amazon and $41 at WM for 5 qrt. jug… Best then to do an oil filter included + Valvoline Restore and Protect special then at your local auto parts store for $40’ish .

When I look at Walmart the $41 for 5 qt jug is being sold directly from Valvoline. But the in-store is now $29.97 but out of stock at least at the Walmart near me.

I see - in store is still $29 but if out of stock it reverts to Valvoline direct pricing when viewing on line. Just have to monitor the closer WM’s to me for actual on the shelf inventory.

my local Walmart was well stocked at $29 for Valvoline Restore and Protect…was there yesterday…

I did see where the shelves which have in the past been full of many brands of motor oils were well stocked but fewer brands…shelves were full but less shelf space devoted to motor oil

It was never at Walmart when I looked for it - now that I’m not - it’s there for $30 LoL …
Got Mobil 1 Advanced Clean instead …
($26) …

I have to admit when Lake made a post on youtube on Easter, I grabbed 6 jugs of Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30 which is now up to 8 jugs. lol I'm about to use 3 jugs over the next couple weeks, so I don't know if I'd consider that hoarding?? Either way, I should be good for about 1 year for all of my vehicles which should hold me off if shortages happen.
