Valvoline Restore and Protect

What do you estimate when the max cleaning benefit occurs for Valvoline Restore and Protect ? I believe for most people it will be in that 3,500 - 5,000 mile / 6 months OCI range with a 4,000 mile / 6 month OCI probably being optimal .

What is this?
In the very early days of BITOG Auto-RX was used by quite a few of us to help clean up our engines. It was an additive that seemed to work similarly to Valvoline Restore and Protect back then. I ran it in my 95 Formula and it reduced the oil consumption. Others had similar results. I believe it went out of production about ten years ago.

It definitely did something. I put it in a $500 2004 Vovlo V70 I bought and it freed up enough crap to plug the oil pickup tube screen in a couple weeks. I wonder if Valvoline Restore and Protect would've done the same.

I found BITOG when I was searching for information for my ~ 1qt/1k mile oil burning 1993 Corolla. Auto RX was the most discussed thing I could find back then. I lurked and read for a long time before actually joining. Auto RX did work for me and reduced it to maybe 1/4qt per 1k miles. The car unfortunately got totaled but when I took stuff apart my valvetrain was clean just had a nice golden hue from mostly conventional oil for 220k miles.

Probably not - Valvoline Restore and Protect formula works slowly …
In one of the videos when LSJr is at the test center where they later showed the 500k test results, they specifically talked about making the formulation not too aggressive so not to clog filters. In using Valvoline Restore and Protect to clean deposits and hopefully free any stuck rings, patience is a virtue.

I just dig through Valvoline websites for different continents and found out that there is Valvoline Restore and Protect 10W-30 for South America and Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-30 and 0W-40 for the Chinese market.

This is amazing.

ACEA C3 Valvoline Restore and Protect?!?

This must be what LSJ meant when he said in the recent live stream that higher viscosity versions were coming.

I think this will be hands down the best oil now.

Great find! Thank you!

If you go to Valvoline Global website and click on the upper right corner where it says United States: English, you can access Valvoline websites for different continents and check the Valvoline Restore and Protect availability there.

This gives me hope that we'll get these here 🤞

Approaching the end of my first OCI with Valvoline Restore and Protect, currently at 8k kms (5k miles). I didn't think it consumed much oil but I've never paid much attention as it's always within the marks on the dipstick. I'll post a thread after the change at 10k km.

There's definitely some build up in there.

Checked it again this morning, it's at 8500 km on this first fill of Valvoline Restore and Protect. I don't think it's moved much.

Now 8500 km / Prev 8000 km

I went on Valvoline's website and sent them a message asking for the 0w40 to come to US, just incase they are on the fence.
