Valvoline Restore and Protect 10W-40 Now Available in Australia

View attachment 238644It really does exist! Just picked up 2x bottles for the other Volvo (the T6). I’m sitting in the V8 which is clean inside and doesn’t burn oil. Will be interesting to see how it goes in the T6!

I almost bought one of the V8 S80 ten years ago. Neat car. Hey just yesterday I replaced my Volvo airbag logo that looked like yours (all silver). It was just a few bucks. Really looks nice again!

Crossing my fingers the Restore and Protect works for us!

5 cylinder. Maybe so. I've seen YouTube videos and it looks like clogged oil control rings. However, maybe you're right, maybe it's more that they deteriorate. I'm not sure.
I've owned the 5-cylinder inline five for almost 30 years. Do a compression test, it will tell you.

They are absolutely great engines and will keep going, but 30 years and 200k miles (over half on regular dino oil) did its number on my motor.

Maybe yours is newer? They may have made some design changes in that time frame.

Still great cars, and I drove it 400 miles over the weekend.

There were some specific years on the later RNC T5 which had low-tension rings which clogged up and caused oil consumption. Theoretically, cleaning up the rings (with R&P maybe) should help.

I’ve been meaning to fix the airbag logo. Have had a big list of other things to sort on it, all done now, so yeah I’ll get back onto fixing cosmetics like the airbag logo. Thanks for the reminder!

Now it’s all mechanically sorted out, it is a delightful car. I love the T6 for its ridiculous amount of low-end torque and smoothness, but you can’t beat the sound of a V8. Pretty special in a euro luxo barge.

It will be like $52 at Automotive Superstore by years end, or even Bunnings - the home of cheap Maxlife ATF.
Good to see the 6L bottle.
5L bottles **** me the price of a 1L round here.

It’s already pretty well priced at Sparesbox - $65.96 for 6L.

I wish we had the thicker versions here. While I'm waiting for it to work, I have actually found consumption increased slightly. I figure most likely because of the 5w30 vs my Mobil 1 0w40 I would use previously.

Yeah Bunnings and Valvoline seem to have some sort of deal happening. They always have great prices on Valvoline products. Can't wait for the Restore & Protect to turn up there.

Same here, I like the bigger 6L bottles and never purchase the overpriced 1L bottles.

Yeah like a 40w 70
That's Penrite 40-70, no "W" as it doesn't pass any Winter rating. It's also called Penrite HPR-50 and it can be used in SAE 50 monograde applications.
KV100 = 30.5 cSt, TBN = 7.2, Zinc = 1450 ppm.
The perfect top-up oil for people running 0W16, they will find their oil consumption immediately reduces.

Everything seems to take 5.2, 5.5, 5.7, 6.0 L...
The 5L plus 1 L is such a scam, especially since the 1L is usually $20 to $40.
That why I'm going to 20 L drums, run out? Just crack a new drum.

I dream of the day when I can visit bunnings and buy both maxlife atf and 6L of restore and protect for a discount price.

Actually the restore and protect in 10W40 flavour in 6 L shows they have done their market research. We're lucky to get our own 'flavour'

And 20W-50 was a popular grade there too. My uncle used 20W-50 VWB in his Camry with the 5S-FE. It was also what the Mobil shop next to him also poured.
The 5sfe was a great engine. Didn't do anything spectacular but just kept doing it.
They were great camries they came in 98 to 2005?
I always wanted to fit a 3sge head to a 5sfe block.

I know this is a bit OT but when I was in Repco the other day I noticed 4 L of Maxlife ATF has had its regular price dropped to $44. With regular store wide 25% discount would be even better.
