Previous run of the same oil. I now have HPL (4qt 5W-40 PCMO + 3qt 5W-30 PCMO) in the engine - the same as sample #2 in the report. Intending to run for a 4.5K-5K mi OCI as it seems like it should be able to handle it even though this engine seems to have a bad rep with oil, and the manual mentions a 3750 mi severe maintenance schedule.

With the viscosity bump from the x4 quarts of 40 grade you should be able to get a couple thousand more miles. If you get a full 7 quarts of 40 grade you should be able to go further if fuel doesn't increase too much higher. Fuel may not increase that much more but that is why you are using GC fuel testing to see where it's at or what it will do with more mileage. All your samples seem to be consistent & nothing out of the ordinary.

Looks good. 5,000 OCI.

I agree 5k oil change should be fine. It won't hurt to try it once with a UOA and see what it looks like. If you're not happy with it, drop it back down to 3750 mi.

Azimuth, were you having issues with oil consumption with your vehicle? It seems this oil is a good option for cleaning up rings when there's an issue, if there's no issue what is the end game you are looking for? Maybe I missed that your Sorrento is having oil control issues.

I'm on the second oil change with R&P, in a 2010 Acura TL SH AWD with a known issue of carbon buildup on rings of the J37 engine that increases oil consumption. There is an end game with respect to what the oil is advertised to accomplish.

It was burning a small amount (~0.5qt) by the end of a 3750mi OCI. It didn't seem to burn any in this 3.6k mi OCI. I ran it for one more (4 total) before my current run of HPL. I did not do a UOA on my 4th run of V R&P (approx 3800 mi). They underfilled my last OCI by approximately 0.5 qt - I made it up later during the OCI, so I cannot make a final conclusion yet. I should have a result hopefully on my current run after about 3600 mi.

Running this oil, the analysis is secondary in my opinion, to oil consumption. I'm not going to worry about the analysis on a J37 Acura with known loose oil rings from the factory that promote carbon buildup that has 215,000 miles in my case. If the oil consumption goes down it's a win. Obviously the engine has done well with the variety of oils it's seen over its lifetime.

I hope you get the result you're looking for.
