Valvoline modern Engine

Walmart has several 5 quart jugs of Castrol gold bottle 0w20 and had 1 jug of Valvoline 5w20 modern Engine. All are $20 a piece.
I grabbed the Valvoline even though I never use x20 oil. I want to mix it with a x40. My only concern is what will it be after I mix it?
I think it's on sale because few people around here use anything less than xw30.

This is one of the most discussed topics on the board, if you spend some time searching you'll get a plethora of threads and posts.

It will not harm your engine, ASTM D6922 is there to prevent that. However you will also end up with a mixture that most likely has no approvals, no certifications and no licenses as those are determined by and predicated on a specific additive package. You are the blender now instead of the manufacturer.

That's a very good price for the Valvoline Modern Engine........by me, it's 34.99 !

Thats the usual price here too and the gold bottle Castrol is usually about $30 so it's marked down to sale quick as well.
