OVERKILL is correct on both counts. I used Maxlife semi syn and full syn in my LS400 more than once when the car was about 200-250k miles, now it has conventional for the last 60-80k miles, the car has more than 370k miles now without any problem.

I recently switched to 5W-30 Valvoline HM Maxlife full synthetic. I have a minor leak in one vehicle and a bigger leak in the other and so I am hoping that it either really slows down the bleeding or eliminates it. Apparently the leaks are coming from the valve cover. They say it can take up to two OCI and so I am patiently hoping.

I would not dream and will just replace the failed gasket.
