I heard buying oils and transmission fluid with "seal swellers" can actually cause more problems. I want to get the Valvoline Maxlife ATF Dex/Merc but should I be concerned about the "seal swellers". Just looking to do routine a drain and fill.

I'm running a 99 SL2 with nearly 200k on the original transmission.

Thanks

LOL no, use it with confidence. please post said info. i would love to read it and see the source of this mess... maxlife atf and oil are very good for the $$

Thanks for the responses.

Usually all the high mileage products (oil and atf) have the 75000 miles plastered all over the bottle with something that says helps to condition seals. I see Max Life keeps the tradition alive.

Official site below list as first bullet item "High-performance seal conditioners maintain and preserve the elasticity of seals to help prevent leaks"

Thanks again, I'll pick some up

They also changed the viscosity of the latest brew to better match Dex-VI. From the information Valvoline puts out, this stuff is very close to Dex-VI's cold and hot viscosity ratings. It's a good thing, IMO.

Careful! I put some Maxlife with the stop leak in a Ford AXOD and it mucked it up. Do NOT use the stop leak variety. I have used regular Maxlife ATF and it works great in the wife's Subaru.

Only the second one would have any sort of seal swellers. If it doesn't say 'with stop leak' it is just plain ATF.
