Valvoline MAX life Engine Protector @ Big Lots $2

I was at Big Lots today looking for SLOB which I didn't find but I did find Valvoline MaxLife engine protector instead priced @ $2.00 per 15 oz bottle. Is this a good value?

I'm a fan of Valvolines SynPower Oil Treatment however if the Max Life is fairly close then $2 a bottle isn't bad . . or am I mildly excited for nothing? I have a faint memory of seeing comparisons on this site years ago but the search function is not pulling up the results I was expecting.

It still bothers me that Valvoline sells these oil supplements rather than put a good supply of additives in their motor oils to start out with. You get the good stuff in Chevron and Halvoline without needing to buy additives.

It could just be that they know their formula works and anything else is for perfectionists and fools....

Not saying that's actually the case but could be the way they see it....
