Valvoline hybrid atf worth it?

Most manufacturers give a shelf life of 5 years due to the additives degrade or deplete. You are already starting with oil 3 years old. I would prefer fairly new oil. Why should I pay for oil 3 years old when I can get it months old.
Even if I only run it for two years, it cost me ~$10 (including tax) for all the fluid I'd need for a pan drop and one additional drain and fill. That's less than half of what it would cost using Maxlife from Wal-mart.

Oil is not yogurt, if it's sealed stop worrying about it. Most insane thing I saw on BITOG.

Somehow oil change intervals for transmissions is from 3 years to NEVER. Most say 6 to 8 years or 60to 80k miles and that is oil that is exposed to everything.

Has anyone used this in place of WS in their non cvt transmission and been satisfied with the results? Valvoline’s spec sheet on their webpage shows it’s very similar to maxlife with a tad lower viscosity, 11000 vs 12000.

The next ATF service in my Touareg is in 500 miles and I'm doing a full exchange. Spec is WS. I have run everything in this transmission from Maxlife to Castrol to Idemitsu and it doesn't seem to care.

My Defender is due in 2,500 miles. It will get a new larger oil pan and also a full exchange. Spec is Lifeguard 8.

I believe most Toyota transmissions that want WS aren't super picky. It basically just seems to be Japanese Dex VI

THAT SAID, I've never tried anything other than WS or Maxlife/EP. IOW, beliefs aren't facts.

I kinda wish I had a beater Tundra specifically so I could fill it with generic Dex VI

I’m going to try it in the Venza before my daughter takes it to college. In the next couple of weeks I’ll give it a go. If it acts up I guess we’ll be going back to WS.
