I have a rav4 hybrid that's about due for an atf change. Is there anything to the Valvoline hybrid atf that is worth while? Been considering amsoil fuel efficient, what's everyone else using?

Does the container state it can be used with Toyota e-CVT fluid?
Until we really know for sure, I would stay with Toyota e-CVT Fluid for now.
The reason I ask is because not all hybrid vehicles use the same type of transmission.
Toyota hybrid vehicles and their e-CVT’s have taken Toyota’s great reliability to the next level and you may not want to mess with success.

The Toyota Hybrid ECVT uses planetary gears and is not like a traditional CVT at all. Toyota has always specified the regular T-IV or WS ATF for the ECVT hybrids.

I would stick with Toyota ATF-WS or the Aisin equivalent. They only need serviced every like 100k anyhow. My fluid came out looking incredibly clean at 110k.

I have seen the teardown of a toyota hybrid CVT, I don't think they even have a friction part like clutch or brake, all electric motor drive and where they would have a clutch in a normal AT is just a spring loaded disk to absorb shock.

I would just use any low visc ATF that is compatible with WS, which is probably going to be SuperTech.

Presently on clearance at my Walmart. By my math $5/qt is cheaper than ValMaLif

Can this be used in any old WS or DexVI application?

You have to use a fluid that is safe for copper. If it doesn't strictly say it then I wouldn't use it. There are still a lot of gears and bearings in the transaxles. They beat up the weak Toyota WS. There are several different used oil analysis that show this

Excellent price. Grab it. Only for Hybrid transmission
Why? Does the "copper protection" damage a non-hybrid trans? Not asking about approvals, certs or recommendations -- curious about reality, physics and the science of why or why not.

I was talking about copper protection for a hybrid. I'm not sure what it would do with a regular transmission. I know it's oil and add pack are strictly for hybrids. Maybe a non-hybrid would have different additives. The Maxlife and Hybrid fluids have a different chemistry based on the SDS.
