valvoline high mileage -synthetic question

04 highlander, I have used the other high mileage oils- I have a $5 off valvoline coupon at wal mart but their high mileage valvoline oil (max life?) says part synthetic, which I have never used in the car.
what are pros and cons if any of part synthetic?

The only thing that high milage does is swell up seals.

if you dont have oil consumption problems dont get it!
Either go with Mobil 1 ,PP , or valvoline syth power which ever cheapest. theyre all about the same thing.

Synthetic has many many benefits one main one is it can last longer in engine , and better protection. so you change your oil less often and have "better" peace of mind.

There is no reason not go synthetic , but going high milage is prob worthless unles your car burns oil at really high rate.

High mileage oils have extra seal conditioners not seal swellers. It's safe to use on new cars. Synthetics have longer service intervals. Max life comes in both syn blend and full synthetic. I have used both interchangeably with my Taurus. I probably would have used the synthetic more often but it was just recently available more often in jugs at Walmart and Meijer.
 
Im aware of the dino vs syn arguments - but what about part syn- thats my question here for a car that has been dino since new.

Other than price, I cannot think of any disadvantage of the current Maxlife compared to Valvoline conventional...

Most all labeled synthetic oils in N.A are made from conventional crude oil or its byproducts NOT synthesized from pure building block (gas) molecules. Some racebred esters and vegetable based products (castor) are incompatible with paraffinic or naphthenic conventional and/or pseudo-synthetic lubes.
 
Whee you live it probably doesn't matter too much. But for those who live where it gets cold in the winter I give MaxLife a big thumbs down. I tried it this past winter and it sucked for cold starts and took a long time for the car to sound normal.

Not just in comparsion to the Syntec I'd been running the previsous 3 winters, but even in comparison to contventional GTX & Pennzoil conventional.

I don't know if there is a trade comossion or API requirement for how much Synthetic ou have to have(even by their current degraded definition) to call it a "blend" but it's probably not a high % ...

Not worth more than $12 a jug IMO, and that only where there's no winter.

I've been using Valvoline MaxLife in my Rav for quite awhile and I have never experienced any problems on start up and we get some cold winters here also. Valvoline MaxLife has slowed down the oil consumption on my Rav which has 202,000 on it and it runs real smooth.
