Valvoline Extended Protection High Mileage formula change

I didn’t find another post related to this, so figured I would do so. I’ve used this oil for some time now, in no small part due to the fact that it has previously been formulated with GTL. I had just checked the SDS and noticed that no more mention of that, in most recent SDS dated 3/23/26. I’m guessing due to the current Middle East situation and disruption of supply?

Previous formulation, if I recall correctly, was 80%-90% GTL? Maybe it was 70-80%. Somewhere I think I still have a copy of a previous SDS, if I can find it, I’ll post it as well.

They show in the PDS that HTHS is actually slightly higher than I recall vs previous, so I’m sure it’s still great. But thought folks would like to know.

Yes, it does look like a change away from GTL. Given the situation with the Pearl plant in Qatar, about half of the world's GTL base oil production is offline, and has been since mid March. I expect there will be more changes like this, and those oils than retain a high percentage of GTL base oils will be expensive.
