I was at the AutoZone in Brooklyn killing some time and saw they had a good deal on Valvoline DuraBlend with a Fram Orange filter. (5 quarts) I got the deal, plus an extra quart for use in my Mustang. I chose the filter that fits my wife's Saturn, as I have some MC filters in the stash.

It was a really good deal I couldn't pass up. It will be the first Valvoline product I will ever use.

How is this stuff? I change oil at 5k no matter which oil I run, even though I might be wasting oil.. I just got in the rut of following the manufacturers recommendation.

So what do you think about this oil. The bottle is a cool shade of blue, lol.

This is a bit of a useless answer, but I'm very curious too on the quality of it. Sadly its hard to find the mix ratio of synthetic/convetional in any synblend oil. On another note, did you see in that oil was available in 20w-50?

Ran it in my truck years ago, and it liked it then...

I would consider it if Napa Syn wasn't on sale!

Valvoline's website isn't working. Hopefully their website creator doesn't blend the oils as well

Very good stuff, much like Maxlife without the high mileage additives. I wish it was more common.

I've used VDB plenty of times here. Seems like a fairly good oil. I haven't done any UOAs, but all the ones I could find here looked good.

The percentage of synthetic contained will vary according to the grade that you bought. For example the 5W30 has more synthetic component than the 10W40.

Last time I used it I bought the "Durablend 5W30 DX1", and it was dexos1 rated. Ran it for 9k miles in a 2005 Prius without any issues.

Hi ernied, just wondering if you ever got a chance to post that UOA here (in the uoa section)? Thanks.

I've used it before in my 70's Fords in 10w30 and 10w-40 with no problems. My friend had trouble with it in his minivan, but that vehicle was in trouble already.
I'm still using VDB greases and gear oils regularly.

I can't think of anything that would be bad about using Durablend because it is like Maxlife with a lighter viscosity.

Valvoline Durablend grease is also excellent.
