Valvoline Durablend 85W-140

Does anyone have any input on Valvoline Durablend 85-140 gear oil? I've been running it in the Jeep for $5.49 a quart. I figure when I go wheelin' I risk contamination from water, so I don't want to spend a lot on gear oil. Durablend is about half the money compared to full synthetics. I change it about 2 times a year. (when it looks like it needs it) Just wanted to see if it's a good oil.

Its a valvoline products so of course its good. I use the durablend 80-90 and its just fine. Use it youll like it.

I don't think that the Valvoline Durablend gear oil is anything exceptional, but it will work great for your use I think. The 140wt is good for the high loads you'll likely put on the diffs wheelin'. Since you change it so often unless you are having severe heat problems, I don't think a more exotic oil will help you any.

Its a good product and works every bit as good as any other decent gear oil on the market. No sense wasting 2-4 times the price on Mobil 1, shaffers, redline, ect... when this will work just as well and for only a mere fraction of the price.

If you don't need a xxW140 and you go splashing around in your Jeep a lot you could try some Amsoil Marine Gear.

I use VAl Durablend 80-90 in my '95 Z-71 12 bolt locking rear end and fron diff.

I also use it in my Crown Vic

Works fine in both.
