So I work 3rd shift at Walmart and I was rearranging the oil in automotive and came across valvoline 0w-20 "high mileage". This is the first high mileage oil in the 0w-20 viscosity that I have ever seen. Do any of you guys have any experience with this oil?

I have almost 100k miles on my civic and am wondering should I swap to this oil or just keep on with Mobil 1 Extended Performance?

Think of it as preventive maintenance. If you have no leaks and the car is not burning any oil - that's good. To keep it that way I would definitely try Maxlife 0w20. Price? Pretty close. If you don't go 10-15k miles on Mobil 1 Extended Performance, then it's a waste. Up to 10-12k miles Maxlife will be more than enough to keep your engine happy, clean, and without leaks. And the old "If it ain't broken - don't fix it" goes right against the idea of preventive maintenance. Which is what Bitog and Maxlife is about. Maxlife has more detergents and other additives than regular Synpower, but people ignore that and only concentrate on seal swellers. Well, NEWSFLASH - every oil has seal swellers in it, just in different proportions. Just my two cents.

RusskiBoss, thanks for that info. I just got off valvolines website researching the particular product plus articles on other sites.

I think I will be giving this oil a go on the next oci since I just filled up with M1 less than 2 weeks ago.

I think this oil with a Fram ultra will suit my needs just well. i will continue to research the oil before I definitely pull the trigger

I started out as Honda mechanic before more schooling and getting lucky to become a UPS journeyman semi mechanic. We had several loyal customers with over 200K being maintained with cheap Mobil conventional bulk fill with no problems. So unless your leaking engine oil, I wouldn't use it.

The first 75k miles on this car were 100% highway miles while I was stationed in Virginia. Only in the last year was there a substantial amount of traffic travel put on the car.

Saw the same oil at my local Walmart. Settled for 5W20 instead. They even started carrying Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage.

MaxLife Full Synthetic is an awesome oil & I'd definitely use it if I was you. I plan to switch my Fusion to MaxLife Full Synthetic 5w30 for summer & the 0W-20 for winter very soon.
