I am picking up by wheels from powdercoater next week. Smoked chrome. I need a new set of valve stems. I can't believe how cheaply constructed basic pop in stems are made.
Whats the best stem. High pressure or bolt on. Does anywhere make a stainless or corrosion proof stem??? Whats the best available?? I saw factory BMW style looked really nice and bolt on style. not sure of hole sizing http://www.bavauto.com/fland.asp?part=36...CFWEV7AodolEAtA

Standard pressure pop in stems will in my opinion be the least troublesome. They are rated for 65 p.s.i. Threaded stems are more prone to leakage.

Dill is by far the best. Wonder [made in Italy] is the absolute worst. I would rate Schraeder as second worse, even most Chinese stems are better.

+1 ^

I used to only buy a certain made in Mexico brand that held up really well. $70 a thousand. They are no longer made, now I buy a decent Chinese brand that run $60 a thousand. The only made in Mexico option available to me now is Schraeder, which are horrible, inexcusable garbage, and crazy expensive [maybe $250 a thousand].

I wouldn't bother with high pressure stems, they are generally speaking poorer quality. A square inner shoulder is what makes them high pressure. Their brass tube is exposed to visually differentiate them from the low pressure stems, but they don't contain much if any more metal. They are for 8 and 10 ply rated tires, of no benefit for standard pressure tires.
