My 1988 Cressida does not have a pcv valve. It has a hose that looks like it goes down to the oil pan to vent the gases. This is just a guess as I have no workshop manual. How would this work unless the pan has some sort of vent? Just wondering if this hose/vent system would need cleaning after 250,000 miles?

My Chilton's 1988 manual for the Toyotas, shows a vacumn hose schematic for the Cressida, and identifies one of them for a PCV valve. The little scudder must be in there somewhere! And after that many miles it has to need changing.
Thanks! None of the online site list a PCV valve but I will check with the dealer to make sure. Maybe it feeds out of the oil pan into the intake and I just can't see it.

OK I found a line behind the intake that goes from the valve cover to the intake. No sinple pcv valve but some electronic control to control the flow. I guess this doesn't ware out as no replacement part is listed anywhere. The hose from the oil sump to the valve cover is to get all gases up to the top for clearing them out.
I guess I could a least clean the hose out after so many miles.

There is no PCV valve on the 5MGE.
That smaller hose going from the top of the intake valve cover serves the same function. If you haven't it might be good to take it off and clean it and the area it attaches to (and the throtle body plate). Carbon does build up over long time.
I need to replace that larger hose going from oil filler cap area down to the oil sump. But I've never found any aftermarket hose that I thought would look good and work. I've seen some use a section of red heater hose but it looks terrible and isn't designed for oil emission.
The dealers want $25-35 for the hose so I've just kept waiting. If you come up with something to replace at less cost let me know.
