Is it ok to run this oil in my f150 4.6 engine, with 112k on it?it doesn't burn or use any oil i just wanted to try it.
Is valvoline maxlife 5w30 to thick for my engine, couse i read here that high mileage oils run ticker.
So is this 5w30 HM oil as thick as a 10w30 reg oil?
Any 4.6 engine owners here using this oil? tks for your help.

Won't HARM a thing. I prefer 5w/0w20 in the ford modulars.

thank you for saying that! I have more faith in that answer than anything else i've read on this site or the Ford site...
I have Q-power 4x4 full synthetic 5W-20 standing by and then, eventually (takes me a while to get 5k miles) i'm going back to MC blend....

I believe Maxlife is now made in 5w20, but trying to find it on the shelf is another matter.

I had to check 3 Walmarts...the one closest to the house stocks VERY few 5W-20's...the other stocks mostly 5W20's.

I would run any 5w30 api sm oil, just due to the mileage.

If you were running 5w20 for a while with no consumption issues, I would recommend that.

What is going on in the Valvoline world? I seen new Valvoline Maxlife semi-synthetic. Is Valvoline finally marketing Maxlife as a semi-syn? Or is a complete new formulation?

If you mean Maxlife, it would be the same at 100C. Other brand HM oils are thicker.

Valvoline was keeping their semi-syn Maxlife a secret and was just marketing it as a conventional high mileage oil, but since TallPaul has told the whole world about Maxlife being 12-22% PAO, they decided to go ahead and market it as such.
