I have for the past several years taken to vacuuming out the new oil filter before pre-filling it. Using Fram Ultra for 20k miles with M1 at 10k miles.

Thinking that the manufacturing process probly leaves some particles inside; can't hurt to try to get rid of them.

Only on BITOG. Not sure how much this would help, but I guess it shouldn't hurt as long as the vacuum is not TOO strong.

I've done the "vacuum procedure" before ... just in case anything is trapped down inside the center tube. No vacuum cleaner would be "too strong". The filter will just flow air through the ADBV and media.

Yes, I have done it with PureOne filters in the past. A few of them, you could hear the grit flowing through the vacuum tube almost like when a vacuum is sucking up sand out of carpet. One of the many reasons to not use a Purolater oil filter IMHO.

I have never seen anything that needs to be vacuumed out of a Wix.

Hi,
It really is not needed, we do this at the factory. If it makes you feel better and the vac is not too strong, no harm either. Thanks for using Ultra!
