That's one way to look at it. My $50 DirtDevil is almost 10 years old. Still working just fine. I actually prefer it to some Dyson vacuum that my wife bought a few years back that has a canister that needs emptying every time it vacuums, and then two different filters to clean.
Same here. My cheapo DirtDevil didn't die only became noisy and weak after about 10 years of service. Bout another el cheapo bagless vacuum from Costco 6-7 years ago for around $60-70, it's still working okay no impending failure.
If an el cheapo vacuum at less than $100 lasted 10 years without any repair except changing filter every 4-5 years, the several hundreds dollar machine should lasted 30-40, but can they ?
